A trip to Easter Road
31st October 2009
with roving Reporters Michael Aird and Alice Scott
For someone as football mad as me I
can’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon than watch a good
game and that’s what I got the chance to do on Halloween when through the
Pilton Youth and Children’s Project I got a press pass for the Hibs v Aberdeen
game. When myself, Alice and PYCP worker Mark arrived at Easter Road we were
greeted by Keith Reid from Hibernian TV and given a tour around the stadium.
After that we followed Keith into the journalist room where the post-match
conference is held and for press members to relax before the game. As it neared
kick-off we got taken to where we would be doing our report on the game, The
final score was 2-0 to Hibs. After the game we went back to the journalist room
to wait on the managers of both teams as well as a couple of the players. | | |
The
Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee came in first and expressed his thoughts at the
result and also to the major incidents of the game, Hibs manager John Hughes
came in shortly after giving his take on the game. After his post-match
conference was done Hibernian TV got to do a 1 to 1 interview with him in which
time they allowed us to ask him some of our questions. We also got to speak to
Colin Nish and Liam Miller during Hibernian TV interview and after that we were
done in what was a very enjoyable day and we would like to thank Hibernian FC
for allowing us to do that and Keith Reid for helping us with our report. For the full match report click here

On Saturday 31 October
Hibernian FC played Aberdeen FC at Easter Road Stadium. We arrived at Easter
Road and received our press passes. We then met somebody from Hibs TV who took
us up to the press room to have a drink of juice. After a while we were taken to the main stand
to see what it looked like when it was empty. We were shown how to work the
cameras and the commentators microphones.
Just before the match we went
into the stadium and took our seats. The atmosphere was amazing. Some of the
Aberdeen supporters were dressed up and there were even some dressed in sheep costumes!
At half time we went back up
to the press room and had something to eat and drink the steak pies were
amazing.
After half time we went back
to the stadium and watched the rest of the game. Hibs won 2-0 so everybody was
happy (except Mark, our youth worker).
After the game we saw the
press conferences with Mark McGee and John Hughes. We then had our own
interview with John Hughes. It was really good because he was a very down to
earth and funny man. He of course had a lot to be happy about as Hibs had just
gone second in the SPL. We also interviewed Liam Miller (the one with the nice
trainers) and Colin Nish.
Overall the hospitality of
Hibs Football Club was amazing and I would like to thank all the team at Hibs
for making us feel so welcome.
