Pilton Youth and Children's Project (PYCP) voluntary
organisation was established in 1981 and provides community based support for
children, young people and their families. The project is based in the Greater
Pilton Area of Edinburgh. We provide a wide and varied service to children and
young people aged 4 - 18 years, many of who are extremely vulnerable or at
risk.
What we do
We provide
a wide and varied community based and outreach activities:
- After School Clubs, Holiday Clubs and Residentials.
- Several clubs in the evening including football, basketball, creative arts,
single gender clubs, sexual health and healthy living.
- Activities, outings and events.
- Clubs for 15 year plus which focus on life skills and improving
employability - information about training and practical advice in completeing
job application forms and interview techniques.
- Parent support groups
PYCP aims to:
- Deliver
targeted project work within clubs and groups for children and young
people aged 5 - 18 years. We provide a safe place for young
people to meet where they are listened to, taken seriously and have fun!
- Provide
emotional support through our daily drop in service for young people
aged 15 years plus and our individual support programme.
- To
increase self esteem and raise aspirations of the young people and
encourage young people to participate and progress to a more positive
future.
- Link with other information and support
services in the statutory and voluntary secotr, making and receiving
referrals as appropriate.
- Provide input into
policy at local and national level with regard to children and young
people who are disadvantaged or marginalised.
Our overeaching aim is to enhance the lives and
opportunities made available to the young people in our community by supporting
them in an inclusive and accepting environment.
